Outsourcing used to be a word with a quite negative connotation, in some places. Factors that put the word in such an adverse position included gripes over missing jobs and disrespect for the local economies. Nonetheless, there has been a major change in the way people talk about outsourcing over the last five to ten years. This is no longer an option as much as it is a necessity. More importantly, outsourcing gives companies precious time and resources to concentrate on key business areas, rather than piling up significant organizational funds into something that can be achieved more quickly and cost-effectively.

What makes outsourcing a world-class company? First, there has to be a worldwide presence of professional’s outsourcers. They need to be able to help their customers make use of all available resources in a seriously globalized market. That’s number one. Secondly, service providers have to deliver a certain degree of operational experience with a large pool of talent to suit the most specific needs of a company. They have to prove that, with measurable and quantifiable key performance indicators, they can improve daily operations. Purchasing managers enjoy metrics and reports as they display places where they can make changes. Finally, the complex outsourcing business relationship between partners must have benefits for both sides. There has to be a certain trade-off so that both sides see a mutual benefit to doing business together.
